I have never tried the Tubeman MkII, but I would imagine that they are just as nice (probably different) as the original.ītw, I just found out that Andy Timmons endorsed the Tubeman in the past and that he still uses one from time to time in the studio. Just my opinion, but I think they are great. In fact, the Tubeman even takes OD/Boosts and distortion boxes like a tube amp. It must be the cabinet emulation or something, but the Tubeman sounds extremely close to a mic'd tube amp. I found the Tubeman and I can tell you that the Tubeman sounds much better direct to the board than the Mesa Studio Pre ever did. I used to have a Mesa Studio Pre and I remember the recording outs on it sounded pretty good, so I went looking for something like that. (I know that some do, but modelers just didn't work for me). We have 122 Hughes Kettner Diagrams, Schematics or Service Manuals to choose from, all free to download Disclaimer Brand names and product names are the property of their respective owners. I couldn't get comfortable with the "feel" of modelers. However, things would happen with speaker cables getting bent or unplugged, so I went on a quest to find some way of going direct. Stage volume is something of a "problem", so, in the past I had an amp mic'd up in a backroom. I use a Tubeman (the first one) to go direct to board at the Church I play at.
